Seminar 1: “Cultivating a Culture of Prayer in the Local Church” – Jacob George. Jacob George is an ordained minister with the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada (EMCC). He is the Pastor of Prayer Ministry at the Central Campus of Centre Street Church, Calgary, and Community Pastor for Downtown and South Calgary. Jesus said, “My house shall be a house of prayer” (Matthew 21:13). Paul exhorted, “Devote yourselves to prayer” (Colossians 4:2). This seminar encouraged our local church leaders’ abilities to cultivate a culture of devoted prayer in our local church, permeated by God’s transforming presence.
Seminar 2: “Cultivating Evangelistic Prayer in the Church” – Kathy McIntosh. Kathy completed her 28th year of Pastoral Ministry serving as Youth/Young Adults Pastor, Associate Pastor, and finally Community Outreach Pastor, and transitioned into her current role as National Prayer Coordinator for Alpha Canada in 2021. This session helped to equip those present with strategic tools to move prayer from an internal focus to an outward-facing, missional catalyst.
Ignite Prayer Canada Public Prayer & Worship. This evening event gave us opportunity as the City Church to worship & pray together for 3 specific themes: #1 Prayer for Missional Unity, Peace & Reconciliation Locally & Nationally; #2 Prayer for Spiritual Awakening & the Harvest; #3 Prayer for the Fullness of the Spirit & Holiness. These 3 prayer times were led jointly by Ignite Prayer Canada leaders & Victoria City Church leaders.
